Again, if you’ve been keeping track of our social media feeds (Facebook, Twitter, and Google+) you’ll know that the ladies all got to go
play work for 4 days in Las Vegas! Your West Seattle dental team attended the Invisalign GP Summit, and according to the following content, learned a lot! Here is what each team member learned about and is most excited to share with you.
Jillian says: The Invisalign GP Summit was a conference of those from around the entire United States to teach and learn in great detail about Invisalign and how it is used to enhance the lives of our patients. Invisalign is a way to align the teeth without the use of traditional bracket and wire braces. This in itself is pretty amazing. Aligning your teeth is not just about aesthetics, it’s about your health and the longevity of your smile. Your teeth are created to fit together like a puzzle, if they are not in correct occlusion or alignment, this is called malocclusion. As a hygienist, I directly see the effects of malocclusion. One aspect of this is crowding of the teeth, which can get worse over time. The areas where crowding occurs are more susceptible to inflammation (read: gums getting puffy and red) caused by the build up bacteria, plaque and calculus. This inflammation is called gingivitis. Chronic inflammation can lead to bone loss which is periodontitis. Another issue that occurs when your teeth do not fit together properly is something that we call occlusal wear. Occlusal wear is excessive wear through the enamel on the chewing surfaces of your teeth. It can happen to your front teeth [incisors] or back teeth [molars]. This makes us more susceptible to having tooth sensitivity or even fracturing our teeth. We want our teeth to last a lifetime in the best condition possible. Invisalign can help to provide that.
Areesa shares: The Invisalign GP Summit in Las Vegas was a very rewarding experience for our entire team. We feel so fortunate to Dr. Kirchner for giving us the opportunity to attend. We were able to take some of the most phenomenal classes from the most elite providers in the nation. Together we received in depth knowledge on how proper tooth alignment is directly related to our overall systemic health. With this education & training we look forward to providing the best possible service to our patients. We pride ourselves in excellence & this conference has prepared us to offer one of the best treatment options to all of our patients who may be candidates. When our patients have completed their Invislaign treatment, they will be required to wear a Vivera retainer, which is one of the most comfortable options in dentistry. We look forward to taking care of our patients who present with malocclusion disease & are excited to share the included benefits.
Jessica says: This year’s Invisalign Conference was very informative and amazing! The speakers were full of helpful information. I am excited for us to take Invisalign to the next level in our office! I learned better techniques for taking photographs to help show and explain to patients our concerns with their teeth. We are all very excited to help our patients learn about how putting their teeth into proper alignment will help their overall health.
Lacey states: Our recent experience at the GP summit for Invisalign was an amazing experience. Having the opportunity to hear and learn from the elite Invisalign providers in the U.S. was a profound learning experience. They gave us a lot of excellent ideas on ways to improve our patients’ oral health through using Invisalign. The biggest thing I learned at the summit is how important digital photography in dentistry is and how useful it is when educating patients. I look forward to implementing this into the hygiene side of our office to better educate our patients.
