Its autumn time and your West Seattle dentist, Dr. Kirchner wants you to “fall” into some good oral health habits. The Delta Dental website had some great tips for brushing up (no pun intended) on your healthy mouth routine.
Fall is a great time to get cozy around a campfire. Delta Dental suggests that instead of loading up on s’mores around the campfire (filled with sugar that could be damaging to teeth) try this alternative, the “banana s’more”:
“Peel a banana on one side and stuff it with fillings like dark chocolate chips and chopped nuts. Wrap the stuffed banana in foil and roast it over the campfire for about five minutes, then cool and enjoy!”
Wow. Not only does that sound healthy, its also sounds amazingly yummy! Excuse me while I go try that!
Ok, I’m back. Let me tell you, that was messy, but sooo delicious! You’ve got to try that!
Fall is also the time when we get back into the swing of things with sports. Delta Dental had this to say about sports and your oral health:
“If you or your child will be playing sports this fall, make sure there’s a mouth guard on hand…It can help prevent chipped, broken or lost teeth. Consider getting one before your annual “touch” Thanksgiving football game. You know someone always ends up tackling!”
Dr. Kirchner is a firm believer and advocate in the benefits of a properly fitted mouth guard. Call the office for an appointment to get one today!
Another great thing about fall is the apples. Living in Washington state, we have more apples and varieties than you can shake a fist at! Delta Dental had this to say concerning this fall staple:
“After you’ve taken your family on an apple-picking outing, don’t go home and coat the apples in caramel or dunk slices in sugary dips. Enjoy your crop as nature intended for a crunchy, tooth-friendly snack.”
And finally, they had this to say about fall:
“Whether they’re lemon, golden or ochre, watching leaves change color in the fall is a pastime many people enjoy. But the same can’t be said for yellowing teeth. To prevent stains and discoloration from foods, beverages or smoking, talk to your dentist about whitening options. From in-office bleaching sessions to over-the-counter whitening products, your dentist will have insight on the best method for your teeth.”
Remember this blog post from a couple of weeks ago about our newest in-office whitening system, Sinsational Smile Whitening? It is fast, easy and won’t break the bank. And with the holiday season right around the corner, now is a good time to invest in your smile so you will be ready for all of the coming get -togethers. Give the office a call today to to make your appointment!
We hope you enjoy this fun season of the year!
