Meet Lacey!

west seattle dentist

Its time for another getting to know you post from your West Seattle dentist.  This time though we are proud to introduce the newest member of our staff.  Lacey is our new hygienist!  Although new to our office, she is not new to dentistry.  She was a dental assistant for 7 years before going back to school and becoming a hygienist.  She has been a hygienist for the past 6 years and loves it!  Read on to find out more about Lacey!

So where did you grow up?

In Dayton, Washington!

Wow!  I’ve never heard of that place before.  I haven’t lived in Washington for very long though.  Where did you go to school?

I did all of my pre-requisite work at Walla Walla Community College and then moved to Boise for Hygiene school.

I’ve heard that the Boise school is competitive to get into.  That’s great you were able to attend there!  So did you always want to be a hygienist?

No.  When I was growing up I wanted to be a lawyer!

Wow!   So how did you get into the dental field then?

It was something my mom suggested to me when I was in high school.  I pursued it and really loved it.  I started out as a dental assistant and then continued my education and learning to become a hygienist.

Nice job Lacey’s Mom!  So do you have a favorite tooth?

I actually have two favorite teeth.  I like the maxillary laterals, which are the teeth on either side of your top front teeth.

So moving on to more of your favorite things not dental related, what is your favorite food?

Mexican food is always a go to, but I really like hot/spicy foods in general.

What is a book you can read over and over again?

I never read books more than once.

Do you have any favorite hobbies?

I love running, swimming and trying to golf!

Favorite color?

Black.  It absolutely goes with everything.

Oh that’s one of my favorite colors too.  You’re right, it does go with everything.  Let’s move on to some what ifs.  If you had a year off with pay, what would you do?

I would travel and spend time with my friends.

Oh! Where would you travel?

Well, a beach would be ideal, but I want to go check out Austin, Texas and enjoy some music.

What Olympic sport would you like to try?

I really enjoy swimming, so I’d love to compete in that.

If you could have lunch with anyone living, who would it be?

Ideally just getting my girlfriends together to lunch would be my choice.

Ok we’re almost done here.  Now for the oddball questions.  What creeps you out?

I would say typical stuff, spiders, snakes, you know, creepy crawly things.

How many pairs of shoes do you have?  How many is too many?

I honestly don’t know how many I own, but I usually rotate between 5 pairs: work shoes, running shoes, boots, flip flops and some flats.

That sounds perfect to me.  What are two things that you consider yourself to be very good at?

My career and being a loyal friend.

OK, last question: What two adjectives describe you?

Hard-working and a loyal friend.

Is it time for you check-up and cleaning? Give the office a call to get scheduled with one of our lovely hygienists.  And if you’re scheduled with Lacey, make sure to bring some yummy spicy food for her!
