It all started when your West Seattle dentist, Dr. Christine Kirchner sent over the link to this gem:
I couldn’t believe it! It was so silly! It got the message across! It made me want to floss and brush my teeth! It made me wonder why folks down in Oregon didn’t know they should brush their teeth!
I was then zooming around the internet trying to figure out what to post about this week when I discovered this website: 2 Minutes 2 times a day. Apparently, “according to a survey released by the Ad Council less than half (44%) of parents in the U.S. report that their child brushes their teeth twice a day or more”(http://www.mouthhealthy.org/en/babies-and-kids/fun-ways-to-encourage-kids-to-brush). With that in mind, several dental agencies and the Ad Coucil have partnered up to create the website 2min2x.org. This website is a great resource for parents and kids to learn more about brushing their children’s teeth. A cool feature of the site is that it contains ten 2 minute long videos, ranging from Seasame Street to Loony Toons, that help kids brush for the prescribed amount of time. “For the first time in decades, tooth decay is on the rise in kids,” said Dr. William Calnon, ADA president. With that in mind, and Halloween right around the corner, the site is a great tool for kids to learn more about brushing their teeth (You know, not just wiggling their toothbrush around in their mouth like my son likes to do!)
